Lolette and Russ,

I just wanted to write you both and let you guys know of what a wonderful job I think you guys are doing. I came to volunteer all afternoon on Sunday, June 18 with my friend Suzan. Suzan and I are trying to schedule a day a month to go up to you guys to help clean cages, litter boxes and your home in general.

I was so happy to see that your cats are well cared for. Despite your soaring vet expenses, you still continue to give those cats in need the utmost care and consideration. The outside ferals always have plenty of food, water, things to climb in and hide in and litterboxes ready for use. The inside cats also have plenty of food and water and things to climb on and hide in as well as litterboxes ready for use. The sick cats are seperated from the "herd" so as not to infect others.

When feeding the cats I noticed that you use only the highest quality food (Felidae) which has no "by products" or "fillers" and is natural and healthy. You don't feed the cheapest food out there inorder to 'cut corners'.

Being that Kern County is a 98% kill rate in their shelters, there really needs to be more people like you and more volunteers to lend a hand. I thank you for your hard work and look forward to more volunteer days at your home.

A LETTER FROM MOLLY

Dear Mom and Dad,

Well I moved out yesterday and want to thank you for taking me in, getting all my shots and having me fixed. I talked with the mommas in the nursery and I'm glad I didn't have to go through "kitten birth." The ride from Lebec to Frazier Park was very nice. My new mom is a very safe driver!

When she pulled into the driveway and I saw my new home my first thought was "I am 'trailer trash.'" She lives in a motor home! But when I got inside I saw that it was a brand new motor home and very nice. My new mom sat down with me and explained that she had only one rule. I can never go outside of the motor home. But inside the motor home I can do anything I want. If I scratch on the furniture she will not get mad. If I am on the kitchen sink she doesn't care. I think that is really neat!

She also has a big bed over the place where she drives the motor home and she fixed it up for cats to play in. One place has a blanket where I can sit and watch birds. Another place has another blanket where in the morning when the sun comes up I can stretch out and take a nap. And there is a one story cat house which I checked out and it is a great place for me to sleep. I know where the litter box is, the cat food and the water. In the back is another bed with lots of windows and stuffed animals. I think she is a little old to have toys but they are fun to roll around in.

When she takes a nap I like to curl up next to her and when she wakes up I kiss her nose. She talks a lot but I don't understand the words. She has another cat named Andy Andy. I think he is a bit of a wimp but otherwise he is very nice looking - a bit too old for me - but he seems to be okay for a guy cat.

She screams a lot at this little thing called a television and watches this program called the NBA. She doesn't like a team called the Lakers. I don't know why. She likes this team called the Green Bay Packers and said she wanted to have Brett Favre's baby. I don't understand this either. Sometimes she is a bit strange for a human being but she really really likes cats. Again, thank you for saving my life!

Love and hugs, Molly

Alfie & Layla

Hi guys,

We adopted Archie and Albina (Now Alfie and Layla) on December 27th 2005. They are the best thing that has happened to us!!! They sleep in our bed and make us laugh constantly. Layla is a crazy girl who loves to play 24/7. Alfie tries to take care of her, but she thinks he is trying to play! Thank you for finding them and making them a part of our lives! What you do for these animals, and their potential owners is, to me, one of the most selfless acts someone can commit. Thank you!!!

Meet "Physco"

Physco

To the communities of Lebec; Fraizer Park; Lake of The Woods; Lockwood Valley; Pinon Pines; and Pine Mountain (and everyone in between).

This is a open letter to thank "Cause 4 Cats". Russ and Lolette Robrahn are wonderful people who give unselfishly to this community.

I have been a resident in this area off and on for 25 years. My parents, grandparents, and siblings all enjoy this beautiful place. Because of health reasons I moved to Bakersfield about five years ago. I still visit "The Hill" on a regular basis, and the rest of my family still lives there.

Tonight, here in Bakersfield, my favorite pet, "Physco", somehow impaled himself. He had a very large and deep open wound right next to his heart. He already has a heart condition, and the injury was life threatening.

I am on disability and cannot work. My income is very limited, so I could not afford to take him to the vet. With one phone call, at almost nine p.m. the Robrahn's arranged for my pet to be seen by an urgent care vet and paid for the entire bill.

The vet had to insert a drain into his chest and open the wound further to repair damage, then stitch him up again. Within two hours of the time of his injury, my pet was back at home with me doing extremely well. All follow up visits will be covered by "Cause 4 Cats" and the initial bill was almost $300.00.

I could have never afforded to pay for this vet service. Or the follow-up visits and medication to prevent post-op infection.

I cannot say "Thank-You" enough to Russ, Lolette and Cause 4 Cats, for what they did for me and my favorite pet. In the past they have taken in strays I have captured that people have just dumped after moving, and given me food for the ones I could not catch. Assisted in getting cats spayed and neutered at a discount or no cost to low income, and also to fix the wild ones who no one claims.

I urge our mountain community to donate to this wonderful cause when at all possible. These people really do care. I've seen them go out of their way time and time again to help, not because they get paid, but because they are giving and selfless people.

Once again, "Thank-You" Russ and Lolette! You really are angels of mercy.

All our love and gratitude,

Dorothy G. Cox and Physco, "The cat".
